San Diego Comic Con Spoilers

San Diego Comic Con was last week, and Wizards of the Coast has held a panel there for the past four years. During the panel they talk about the new products that will come out for the remainder of the year, and this year was no exception. So here's the rundown of what we will see in Magic in the rest of 2014.

The new expansion releasing for the fall on September 26th will be titled Khans of Tarkir. Prior to the Con, Magic's Head Designer Mark Rosewater had released a short video (linked here) that previewed the title and a small bit of back story which involves a world where dragons had gone extinct, and was the home plane of planeswalker Sarkhan Vol. He also teased that there would be something players had been asking for that had never been done before, and something that players wanted to return and would be.

SDCC spoilers now show that "wedges" are the first tease, or 3 color pairings involving a color and it's two enemy colors. (Draw a shape on the back of a magic card that contains one color and it's two enemies. It looks like a wedge shaped triangle.) Tarkir is inhabited by five clans, each one representing one of the five possible wedge pairings. Each clan will have a mechanic on it's cards, and there will also be one returning mechanic: Morph. Morph is a mechanic I've never played with, so I have no idea how this will play out.
I don't know about you, but I'm never going to be able to keep these straight...
They also showed off the Duel Deck that will be released before Khans and will contain spoiler cards from Khans of Tarkir: Speed vs Cunning.
I want that creature. No, not that one, the other one!
And lastly they also showed off the new Commander 2014 decks, which will introduce planeswalkers as possible commanders.
No, That one! Wait, that's not a creature... What's going on?
I'm excited by all of these thing and will discuss each in more detail later. Which spoiler gets you excited?
This is the Khan of Temur punching a bear. That is all.
